01.08.2007 08:22

Based on its strategy, Tikkurila, which is responsible for Kemira's paints and coatings business, will further strengthen its position in the Russian paint market. The company has decided to build a logistics and customer service centre in Moscow to be able to take the challenges offered by the strong growth and increasing demand. The investment will total approx. EUR 20 million.

Lemcon Ltd. of the Lemminkäinen Group has been chosen as main contractor of the logistics centre, and Architect's Office Ilonen & Lautamo Ky is responsible for the design. The centre will be built in Mytish, Moscow, and it is due to be opened in the summer of 2008. The building volume will be 86 600 m3 and total building floor area 10 000 m2.

Tikkurila has been exporting paints and coatings to Russia for decades under the Tikkurila brand name. The company also has local production in the country in six paint factories altogether. These products are sold under the brands of Finncolor and Teks, for example. The new logistics and customer service centre aims at a considerable improvement in Tikkurila's service level in the rapidly growing market in the Moscow area. The centre will also include facilities for comprehensive customer training, which is an essential part of Tikkurila's marketing. Tikkurila is the leading supplier of paints in Northern and Eastern Europe, providing consumers and professionals with branded products in some 40 countries. The product range consists of decorative paints and coatings for the woodworking and metal industries. In 2006, Kemira Coatings business area had net sales of EUR 563 million and a payroll of 3,500 employees.
