Gloss and texture affect colour perception

The influence of gloss on
colour perception should be taken into account when choosing colours. As the
amount of gloss is increased, colour saturation also increases and the degree
of light-dark density varies.
Another factor affected by gloss is the ease of cleaning painted surfaces. A rule of thumb is that the glossier and harder the surface is, the better it will withstand cleaning and the easier it will become.
Tikkurila paint comes in six different degrees of gloss: Full gloss, Gloss, Semi-gloss, Semi-matt, Matt, and Full matt.
The degree of gloss can be measured at a 60-degree angle. The amount of light reflected by a polished black sheet of glass has a base value of 100 units, according to which paint gloss is graded.
