Every two years, Tikkurila releases a new trend colour collection at the Habitare Exhibition as a source of inspiration for interior designers. New trend colours for 2008-09 were presented at the Habitare Exhibition in September. The 12 colours in the collection have been taken from the Tikkurila Symphony colour system.

A piece of the forest, a touch of a dream – nature at home. The wood, earth and soil tones are all reminiscent of a log cabin or a hideaway in the woods, a place to be one with nature.
A meeting point for states of mind, forest merges into the city, and wood gives way to metal. Feel free to mix styles, create tension and renew contrast. The greenness of moss and the soft hues of clay create a harmonious entity that underscores the closeness to nature. |

The ethereal mist and warmth of late summer play across surfaces gently faded by the sun.
A slow, dying light spreads across the colours like a veil. The light of late summer lingers over wind-roughened surfaces. A kite floating slowly across a sunny sky, a beach house faded by the sand. The anticipation of opening a limpid clam. Receding summer and sun-bleached hair. In this colour universe, all rooms are dominated by lucidity and etherealness: ambience and light decorate the home accompanied by lightweight furniture. Natural materials such as reed, bamboo, wicker and wood can be painted, thus creating a solid, strong atmosphere from the apparently fragile colours. |

Life puts on fancy dress, and reality becomes a stage.
Even an ordinary shape or surface gains a new dimension when deep dramatic colours capture one’s attention. The mysterious mood of an unlit stage. Dark, intensive, sombre colours foreshadow dramatic ambience and dimensions that shatter the mask of everyday reality. Seen from the box, the stage melts into dark shadows. Yet these colours are not melancholy — rather they are powerful and dramatic. Their strong tones are there for you to enjoy. |

Bright retro colours seamlessly combined with manga and modern art, colours that recall the spirit of the Technicolor era.
With input from pop art, Andy Warhol and plastic, this colour scheme presents a completely new retro-inspired dimension. These are vibrant, cheerful colours that emphasize boldness and idealism. Japanese manga influence is also clearly present. The dominance of plastic and metal in the modern urban world is often expressed in graphic art and graffiti, whose naive and rounded shapes help soften the industrial feel of these materials. |
