| APPLICATION DETAILS | ||
| Application conditions | The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5°C, and the relative humidity of the air below 80%. | |
| Preparation | New unpainted surfaces:
Clean dirt, dust and grease from unpainted surfaces. Prime with Jehu Wood Primer or Otex Primer. Previously painted surfaces: Wash down previously painted surfaces with Cleaning Agent (Maalipesu), rinse carefully with water and allow to dry well. Remove loose paint with scraper and sand the whole surface. Remove sanding dust. Fill holes and cracks with Presto Furniture Putty or Alkyd Putty. Prime, if necessary, with Jehu Wood Primer or Otex Primer. |

| Painting | Empire does not need to be stirred before use. If you have to stir Empire - e.g. when thinning - let the paint become gelatinous before application. For brush application, thin Empire with White Spirit 1050 and for spray application with Spray Thinner 1032. Apply by brush or spray 1-2 times. | |
| Cleaning of tools | Clean tools with White Spirit 1050 or Tikkurila Pensselipesu (Tool Cleaner). | |
| Maintenance instructions | Earliest after one month from painting: Clean dirty surfaces with a neutral detergent solution (pH 6-8) using for example a brush, sponge or a cleaning cloth. For very dirty surfaces use weak alkaline detergent solution (pH 8-10) using a sponge or a cleaning cloth. Rinse the surface well.
The surface achieves its final hardness and durability after one month under normal conditions, therefore the surface should be handled with care during that time. If the surfaces need to be cleaned soon after finishing, use a smooth brush or a damp cloth to clean the surface. | ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND WASTE DISPOSAL | Avoid spillage into drains, water systems and soil. Recycle empty, dry cans or dispose them of in accordance with local regulations. Destroy liquid waste according to the local regulations for hazardous waste. | |
