Restoring your furniture

Factory-painted cupboards that had turned yellow with age, were first painted with Otex Adhesion Primer (G398). The handsome artwork on the door was created with Feelings Furniture Paint (G398, V401, J500). The figures were painted freehand, but masking tape can also be used as an aid.

The picture frame was painted using three different colours (K200, Y484, F497) with a top coat of Taika Pearl Glaze in different colours (silver, gold).
NB. This finish is not wear-resistant and cannot be washed!

The faded laminate surface of this lovely desk was first painted with Otex Adhesion Primer (F484) and given a new, durable finish with pleasing stripes using Empire F484, V401, N480 and Taika Pearl Paint gold.

Masking tape was used to apply the stripes neatly.

Remember to remove the tape immediately after painting!

Feelings Furniture Paint, semi-matt

Feelings Furniture Paint can be used on a wide range of interior surfaces, and dries to an attractive finish which is hard wearing and easily cleaned. Feelings Furniture Paint can also be used on primed metal and for repainting interior surfaces previously coated with waterborne, alkyd or acid catalysed paints.

Coverage:	8-10 m²/l per coat. The above should be used as a guide, as actual spreading rates will depend upon many factors including texture, porosity and application method.
Application method:	Brush, roller or spray application. Polyester and nylon paint brushes are best suited for the application of Feelings Furniture Paint. For airless spray use a 0.013” – 0.015” spray tip. Thinning: if necessary thin by up to 5% with water.

Empire

For interior use. Empire levels well and ensures a smooth finish. Empire is ideal for brush application.

Application method:	Brush or spray.

Otex - Adhesion Primer

For priming and undercoating new and previously painted wooden, chipboard and wood fibre board surfaces. Adheres well also to problematic surfaces such as glass, tiles, glass fibre, PVC-plastic, aluminium, zinc coated sheet metal and surfaces coated with alkyd and catalytic paint.

Coverage:	8-10 m²/l.
Application method:	Methods: Brush, roller or spray. For airless spray application use a nozzle 0.011" - 0.015" i.e. 0.280 - 0.380 mm. Thinning: 0 - 10 vol-%
Thinner:	Spray Thinner 1032 and White Spirit 1050

Taika - Pearl Glaze

Apply onto a coat of Tikkurila acrylate wall paint such as Harmony/Feelings Interior Paint. Because Taika Pearl Glaze is transparent, the colour of the primer (e.g. Harmony) will have a critical effect on the final look. Good lighting accentuates the fancy effect. Find recommendations for colour choices from Taika colour card.

Coverage:	n. 8 m-12 ²/l.
Application method:	Brush, effect roller, spray. For application use a short-pile roller. Use brush or effect roller to create different surface patterns. Conventional spray: fluid nozzle 1.8mm, thinning up to 40 % with water.

Taika Glaze 2 colour effect, gold-silver

Taika - Translucent two-coloured Pearl Glaze
