On-site and pre-painted metal surfacesCheck the state of painted surfaces once a year. In evaluation reports, special attention should be paid to the state of painted surfaces, the amount of rust, and the condition of joint sealing in roofs. Repair any apparent faults to prevent further damage to the metal structures. Repaint as soon as possible after paint flaws become apparent to prevent rust damage to the metal structures.
Painted surfaces reach their final chemical resistance and durability after about one month in normal conditions. Avoid cleaning during this time. Dust with a dry brush or cloth and clean with a damp cloth dipped in neutral cleaning solution.
Clean surfaces contaminated by grease and soot using wet cloths or sponges soaked in a weak alkaline solution (pH 8-10). Wash down with Tikkurila Huoltopesu (Maintenance Cleaner: 1 part of Maintenance Cleaner to 10 parts of water). Use enough washing fluid so that it does not dry out on the surface before rinsing. NB. abrasive detergents should not be used. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Exterior surface maintenanceRepaint metal surfaces every 10 to 15 years, depending on the paints used and environmental conditions. Metal surfaces can be repainted up to three times.
Clean and wash pretreated surfaces with Tikkurila Panssaripesu Roof Cleaning Agent, and remove any rust and flaking paint from the surfaces with a scraper or wire brush. Repaint the surfaces with a suitable selection of Tikkurila paint products.
