1) ceiling surfaces only
2) lacquered surfaces
During damp or moist cleansing of walls, it is best to wipe in vertical strokes from the top downwards, while wet cleansing of dirty surfaces starts from the lower corners. At a height of one metre or so, wipe first in vertical strokes and then in horizontal strokes, starting from the bottom up and proceeding one strip at a time. This is to stop solution from seeping over dry paint surfaces, as it may also remain visible after cleansing.
Note that washing solution must not dry out on the surface during washing. To produce an even result, allow the washing solution to affect all parts of the surface for a similar length of time. Rinse and dry in the same order as cleansing.
Cleansing methods
Dry cleansing methods = Clean surfaces with a vacuum cleaner or a dry brush, mop, or cloth.
Damp cleansing methods
= Clean surfaces with a soft, slightly damp sponge or cleaning cloth
dipped in a neutral washing solution (pH 6 - 8). Dry the surfaces after
cleansing. Dilute the washing solution as instructed by the dishwashing
liquid manufacturer. Dry with a cloth if necessary.
Moist cleansing methods
= Clean surfaces with a cloth, mop, or sponge soaked in a neutral
washing solution (pH 6 - 8), e.g. dishwashing liquid, and thoroughly
rinse the surfaces afterwards.
Dilute the washing solution as instructed by the dishwashing liquid manufacturer.
Dry with a cleaning cloth if necessary.
Wet cleansing methods
= Clean surfaces contaminated by grease and soot with a cloth, mop, or
sponge soaked in a weak alkaline washing solution (pH 8-10). Use plenty
of washing solution. Rinse and dry surfaces thoroughly, as any
remaining dampness and alkaline surface residue will erode the paint.
Start
and work away from window walls during dry, damp, or moist cleansing of
ceilings. Wipe in the same direction as the light with even strokes. To
prevent any visible edges, do not lift the wiper during the stroke.
After wiping each strip, rinse the wiper in the washing solution. Work
in the same direction if there are seams or patterns in the ceiling.
