The ColorVoyant® Watch blog: Close-up of the Milan Design Week
Tikkurila has started publishing a trend blog as part of its Profe service concept for professionals. The blogger is Doty Horn, a frequent speaker at design industry trade shows and a trend commentator in various media outlets. Horn’s first blog was posted in early March and the second one in June on Tikkurila’s website for professionals at www.tikkurila.fi/thecolorvoyantwatch.
In her latest blog post, two sections of interest – Color and Trends – highlight an overview of the Milan Design Week, and one section is devoted to a review of new Finnish Design at two New York fairs in May.
Every April, Milan opens up their creative doors to 300,000+ international design professionals, all over the city. From one of the hottest venues in town to individual showrooms and exhibitions that group young creative in interactive play and discussion.
"This is certainly a city that warrants a visit to stretch the design imagination, forging new directions for each and every business," says Doty Horn, Tikkurila's trend blogger in her blog post. She is also Founding Director of ColorVoyant® LLC, a visionary color marketing company in the New York City area with a special focus on B2B customers.
"Milan offered such a celebration of colors that I've not seen in years. Colors took their role in products, packaging and branding…everywhere. They just cannot be disregarded anymore," Doty Horn continues.
The doors were open at Ventura Lambrate, I Saloni / Satellite, the Triennale Design Museum, Rossana Orlandi and MOST/Tom Dixon, and also in individual showrooms and exhibitions. Besides colors, Doty Horn's Milan trend overview includes four topics: Concepts, Process, Kitchen & Bath and Venues.
In May, the 10-months long New Finnish Design CITY project looking into urban life and its design aspects was launched in New York at the Wanted Design Fair. Another venue was ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair) during the New York Design Week.
