| APPLICATION DETAILS | ||
| Application conditions | The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least 5 °C, and the relative humidity of the air below 80%. | |
| Preparation | New unpainted surfaces: Remove dirt, mould and loose particles from the surface. Wash down dirty and mouldy surfaces with Tikkurila Mould Removal solution according to the instructions. Prime with Valtti Base or Valtti Akvabase priming oil in as early construction phase as possible. Protect rusting metal parts like nail heads with Rostex anti-corrosion paint. Remove loose resin from knots and seal them with Oksalakka Knotting Lacquer. Prime surfaces once with Pito Exterior Wood Primer, Ultra Matt House Paint or Öljypohja Oil Primer. Finish with Ultra Matt House Paint 1-2 times. Treat the end grains carefully.
Factory- primed or previously treated surfaces: Remove dirt, mould and loose particles from the surfaces. Remove loose paint with scraper and brush the surface clean with a steel brush. Wash down dirty and mouldy surfaces with Tikkurila Mould Removal according to the instructions. Treat bare wooden surfaces with Valtti Base or Valtti Akvabase priming oil and prime them once with Ultra Matt House Paint, Pito Exterior Wood Primer or Öljypohja Oil Primer. Treat factory-primed surfaces in good condition twice with Ultra Matt House Paint. Prime factory-primed surfaces that have been exposed to weathering over 10 months, first with Öljypohja Oil Primer, then finish with Ultra Matt House Paint. Treat surfaces previously painted with oil paint or acrylate paint 1-2 times with Ultra Matt House Paint. If the old surface is worn out, prime the old oil paint surface with Öljypohja Oil Primer, and the old acrylate paint surface with Pito Exterior Wood Primer. Finish with Ultra Matt House Paint. Industrially with Ultra Pro paint treated surfaces: Finish unpainted parts like end grains with Ultra Matt House Paint. Any other finishing painting is not required on site, if cladding panels are attached with concealed nailing and the paint surface remains undamaged during transportation, storage or assembling on site. Patch-up painting may cause differences in gloss grades. For correcting surface damages occured during construction time and covering nail heads we recommend over-painting of the surface once with Ultra Matt or Ultra House Paint. |

| Painting | Stir the paint well before use and thin with water if necessary. Apply by brush or airless spray. Apply carefully on end-grain. Make sure you have enough paint stirred in one can for one uniform surface to avoid colour differences. | |
| Cleaning of tools | Clean tools with water. To remove hardened paint, Tikkurila Pensselipesu (Tikkurila Tool Cleaner) is recommended. | |
| Maintenance instructions | Handle the surface with care, ultimate durability and hardness is reached in approx. 4 weeks under normal circumstances. After treatment, the surface can be cleaned with a soft brush, a damp cleaning cloth or a mop. After 1 month from painting a soiled surface can be cleaned with Huoltopesu (1 part of Huoltopesu to 10 parts of water). Clean stains and very dirty surfaces with a stronger Huoltopesu solution (1:1). Rinse well and allow to dry.
