| Application conditions | The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5 oC, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %. | |
| Preparation | New clean wood surfaces:
Remove dirt and dust. Moisten lightly with water spray, let dry and sand loose wood fiber off. Remove sanding dust. Old dirty and previously with e.g. Supi Sauna Finish treated wood surfaces: Wash down with Supi Saunapesu Cleaning Agent according to instructions, rinse thoroughly and let dry. Sand and dust off. If any old substrate traces are left under the wax treatment, the end result will be more glossy than on untreated wood. Supi Sauna Wax is not recommended to be used on oil-treated surfaces (e.g. with Supi Bench Protection), if oil is not worn off. Protect floors well before treatment, because Supi Sauna Wax is absorbed easily into ceramic tile joints. |
|
| Waxing | Stir Supi Sauna Wax properly, from time to time also during usage. Apply one coat of wax along the grain, not using more wax than the wood can absorb. Because the wax is very liquid, most suitable application method is foam brush or sponge. The surface remains greasy, if too much wax is applied.
Make a trial with a coloured Supi Sauna Wax on a hidden spot to be sure of a correct colour. The final colour of the surface depends on the wood species. Treat small surfaces in one go to avoid overlapping and large panel surfaces 1-2 panels at a time to achieve a uniform colour. Pre-heat and ventilate the steam room thoroughly before use. |
|
| Cleaning of tools | Clean the tools with water. Tikkurila Tool Cleaner is recommended for removal of hardened wax. | |
| Maintenance instructions | Cleaning earliest abt. 1 month after applicaton, if necessary:
Clean the surface with Supi Saunapesu Cleaning Agent (1-2 dl of cleaning agent into 5 litres of water). |
