Finngard 150 - Protective Coating for Concrete |
|
|
| DESCRIPTION | Alkali-resistant water-borne acrylate paint, which protects concrete against humidity and carbonation. FinnGard 150 is especially suitable for concrete structures which are exposed to weathering and are free from cracking which causes structural instability (only hair-cracking is allowed). FinnGard 150 has no significant impact on the water vapour permeability of the structure. Suitable for painting of concrete surfaces such as facades, front and side panels of balconies or other exterior concrete structures. | |
| PRODUCT FEATURES | Suitable for painting of concrete surfaces such as facades, front and side panels of balconies or other exterior concrete structures. | |
| RECOMMENDED USES | Residential, business, industrial, storage etc. buildings, parking halls. | |

| APPLICATION DETAILS | ||
| Application conditions | The surface to be treated has to be clean, the temperature of the air at least +5 °C, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %. | |
| Preparation | New concrete surfaces:
Remove dirt, loose material and salts from unpainted concrete surfaces. Pre-cast concrete surfaces can be painted after the first heating season. External grade concrete (≥K40) dries very slowly and therefore special attention must be paid to the moisture content of such elements. Surfaces cast using formwork must be mechanically worked (e.g. sand-blasted) to create sufficient texture and remove the glass-like, glossy hydrated cement. Similarly, the cement paste on cast surfaces must be removed by sand-blasting, steel brushing or high-pressure washing with the addition of sand. Previously painted concrete surfaces: Remove the old coating or paint with sand-blasting. Remove any loose or damaged concrete. Use a chipping hammer to expose any rusty reinforcement and clean at least to St 2 requirements. Remove all the grinding dust and chipping waste with care. Apply the Finnseco-KOR anticorrosion paint to the cleaned reinforcement and carry out the necessary repairs using the Finnseco repair mortars as instructed. Level the sand-blasted concrete surface with Finnseco Polytop finishing mortar before painting. Cure the Finnseco Polytop finishing mortar with clean water according to the instructions before starting the painting work. Check the condition of the pre-cast concrete joints and do necessary repair work. |
|
| Surface treatment | First treatment:
Stir FinnGard 150 well before use. Reserve enough paint from the same batch for one uniform surface, to avoid possible colour differences. Always apply two coats. The paint can be thinned up to 5-10% with water for priming, if necessary. Finish with unthinned paint. Follow the recommended coverage values to ensure maximum protective effect. Adjust overlapping to structural details, windows, joints of elements etc. |
|
| Cleaning of tools | Clean tools with water. | |
| Maintenance instructions | Avoid cleaning for a month. After that, the surface can be cleansed carefully with a high pressure cleaner without detergent. The cleaning can leave permanent mark on the surface so, carefully wash according to joints. Remove loose dirt lightly with a brush without rubbing.
Apply Tikkurila Mould Removal to remove mould or algae. Rinse well. Note! After using Tikkurila Mould Removal always recoat the surface. |
|
| Maintenance treatment | Maintenance painting:
Surfaces painted with FinnGard 150 can be re-painted with FinnGard 150. Check the condition of the structures and do necessary repair work before maintenance painting. |
