APPLICATION DETAILS
Application conditions The surface, the mortar and the temperature of the air has to be at least +5˚ C. Avoid working in hot weather, direct sunshine or very windy weather. Start after-treatment immediately after the surface has dried, especially in dry circumstances.
Preparation Block surface: Remove any loose particles, dirt and efflorescence from the surface. Smooth any roughness mechanically. Fill the holes and cracks with Yki Leveling Mortar before final leveling using a minimum of water to mix.

More extensive patching on lightweight concrete surface should be done with the mortars suitable for the base type.

Concrete surface: Make sure the new surface is fully dry and cured before treatment. Remove dirt, dust and salts from unpainted surfaces. Treat moulded concrete mechanically to achieve a sufficient surface profile.

Use a sand blaster, suitable grindstone or pressure washing with sand addition to remove cement stone in the surface. Carry out more extensive patching with Finnseco reparation mortars.

Applicable national health and safety precautions must be followed in pre-treatment and coating of substrates containing asbestos.
Priming Prime light weight concrete surfaces with Tikkurila Hydrosol primer thinned with water in ratio 1:1 before application of mortar, other surface types do not need priming.
Application Preparing the mortar:
Mix Yki Oikaisulaasti Reparation Mortar mechanically with water until an even mass is formed. Use 4.5–5.5 liters of water per sack. Allow the mortar to settle for about 10 minutes and mix again. The mortar should not be too runny or too stiff. If the mortar is too stiff to apply, add more water (no more than 0.5 liters). The maximum volume of water per sack is 5.5 liters. Only mix enough mortar to use within 30 minutes.

Pre-leveling:
If necessary, pre-level the wall surface using Yki Reparation Mortar and mortar mesh.
Spray the area to be treated using clean water 1-2 hours before starting work. Coating can begin when the wet shine disappears from the surface.

Spread Yki Reparation Mortar using a steel trowel or a plaster pump. After spreading, smooth down the surface in long strokes with the long straight edge of the trowel. The pre-leveled surface should be sufficiently smooth to allow for two applications of Yki Reparation Mortar to a total thickness of 4-6 mm.

Coating:

Wall coating:
Spray the area to be treated using clean water 1-2 hours before starting work. Coating can begin when the wet shine disappears from the surface.
Spread a 2-3 mm layer of Yki Reparation Mortar over the corners and openings of the surface to be reinforced, applying a width of a corner trim at a time. Place the Tikkurila Kulmavahvikeverkko corner mesh onto the wet mortar surface and, using a steel trowel, carefully press the mesh into the wet surface. Do not press the mesh all the way into the base of the mortar surface. The mesh works best when left onto the surface at this stage.
Place corner trims and diagonal braces onto all corners of window openings in the same way. Tikkurila Pielilevy casing provides an easy way to finish window and door casings. For detailed installation instructions, see the data sheets of the mortar mesh, corner trims and casings.
After installing the corner trims, prepare the mesh layer by spreading a 3-4 mm layer of Yki Reparation Mortar using a steel trowel or a plaster pump onto the surface to be treated. Place the mesh onto the wet mortar surface and, using a steel trowel, carefully press the mesh into the wet layer so that some fresh mortar comes through the mesh. The mesh should not be pressed down all the way to the base of the mortar layer; only press down until enough fresh mortar comes through to provide a smooth layer over the mesh. The mesh should overlap by at least 100 mm.
After spreading, smooth down the surface in long strokes with the long straight edge of the trowel.

Wait at least a day before preparing another mortar layer using Yki Oikaisulaasti without mesh to a depth of 1-2 mm. Depending on the ambient temperature and humidity, the mortar layer can be rubbed lightly using a sponge rubber float approx. 20-40 minutes after application. The mortar surface can be rubbed when the float moves on the surface without the mortar sticking to it. It is recommended that any surfaces to be treated with the Kivisil Julkisivumaali façade paint should be rubbed down before painting.

Socle coating:
Spray the area to be treated using clean water 1-2 hours before starting work. Coating can begin when the wet shine disappears from the surface.

Spread a 2-5 mm layer of Yki Reparation Mortar onto the surface using a steel trowel. After spreading, smooth down the surface in long strokes with the long straight edge of the trowel. Depending on the ambient temperature and humidity, the mortar layer can be rubbed lightly using a sponge rubber float approx. 20-40 minutes after application. The mortar surface can be rubbed when the float moves on the surface without the mortar sticking to it.
Curing Spray the surface with clean water for 24-48 hours, depending on working conditions.
Surface treatment Dried Yki Leveling mortar surface can be sanded if necessary. Remove the sanding dust carefully before finishing. Finish the leveled walls eg. with Kivisil Facade paint or Yki Rough Coating, socles eg. with Yki Socle Paint or Yki Rough Coating.
Cleaning of tools Clean tools with water immediately after work.
Maintenance instructions Surface can be cleaned earliest after a month using lightly a pressure cleaner without detergent. Loose dirt can be cleaned lightly with a smooth brush without rubbing.

To remove mould or algae apply Tikkurila Mould Removal and rinse well.
