M1-emission classification
Finnish labelling system for indoor building materials, such as industrial water-borne products for wooden surfaces
Clean indoor air is vital. Of the many factors affecting indoor air quality, indoor building materials have a particular impact. The Finnish labelling system for indoor building materials is specifically intended for the classification of building materials used in residential and work spaces. Emission classifications are granted by the Finnish Building Information Foundation RTS.
Paint products for which
classification is sought are tested for volatile organic compounds (VOCs),
formaldehyde, ammonia, carcinogens and odours, by the Technical Research Centre
of Finland VTT. The M1 classification for
low-emitting building materials has been granted for the following water-borne
wood industry products manufactured by Tikkurila:
- Akvilac TIX 25 (448 6909)
- Akvi Top 15 FD (467-s)
- Akvi Top 15 FD, shade TVT 604L (960 7186)
- Akvi Top 30 FD (454-s)
Akvilac TIX 25 is a water-borne, fast drying acrylic lacquer. It is easy to spray on, even in thick coats. The lacquer is suitable for furniture, doors and panels. The water-borne products Akvi Top 15 FD and Akvi Top 30 FD are fast-drying acrylic topcoats. They are suitable for painting, for example mouldings, panels and furniture. These products are included in the Temaspeed Fonte tinting system.
