Fontecryl PP

DESCRIPTION A waterborne, one component fast drying acrylic based primer containing active anticorrosive pigments.
PRODUCT FEATURES Recommended e.g. as an anti-corrosive primer under powder coatings on steel. Especially suitable for dipping. Drying times can be shortened by using higher temperatures. Overcoatable with a wide range of products, also with solventborne products.
RECOMMENDED USES Steel surfaces.

APPLICATION DETAILS
Application conditions All surfaces must be dry. The temperature of the ambient air, surface or paint should not fall below +15 ºC during application or drying. Relative humidity should be between 20 - 70 %. The surface temperature of the steel should remain at least 3 ºC above the dew point.
Preparation Oil, grease, salts and dirt are removed by appropriate means. (ISO 12944-4)

Steel surfaces: Blast clean to grade Sa2½. (ISO 8501-1) If blast cleaning is not possible, phosphating is recommended for cold rolled steel to improve adhesion.
Priming FONTECRYL PP.
Finishing FONTECRYL 25, FONTECRYL 50 and powder coatings.
Painting By dip or conventional spray. Depending on the application method the paint can be thinned 0 - 10 %. At dipping the viscosity should be 15 - 20 s DIN 4 and at conventional spray application 20 - 30 s DIN 4. Before overcoating all the solvents and water have to be evaporated from the primer.

Note! The viscosity falls quickly when thinning the paint.
Cleaning of tools FONTECLEAN 1921.
EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 40 g/litre of paint.
VOC content of paint (thinned 10 % by volume) is 35 g/l.
