Ultra Pro - Polyacrylate exterior topcoat
|DESCRIPTION||A water-borne one-component, polyacrylate exterior topcoat.|
Ultra Pro belongs to the Tikkurila ProHouse consept.
A topcoat which does not need a separate primer.
Contains alkyd for improved adhesion to bare wood.
Fast drying line product which has excellent stacking properties.
Protects the surface against moisture, sunlight and dirt.
Extremely low water absorption.
Delay water penetration into wood and therefore decreases moisture cracking of wood surface.
Recommended wet film thickness 115-150 g/m² each layer (dry film thickness 40–50 µm).
Recommended dry film thickness for two layers 80–100 µm.
Can be coated with Ultra Matt paint in building site, if needed.
Tested according to the standard EN 927-5.
Forms a fast drying and elastic film with low water permeability properties.
2 x Ultra Pro provides excellent protection against water penetration, and thus suppresses cracking of timber by preventing water uptake also through the edges.

8–10 m2/l when wet film thickness is about 115–150 g/m² and dry film thickness 40-50 µm.
4–5 m2/l for complete two layer system when dry film thickness is about 80–100 µm.
Practical coverage depends on the application method, painting conditions and the shape and roughness of the surface to be coated.
Spraying, brushing machine or vacuum.
Airless spraying application viscosity can be reached with approximately 0–2 % of thinning by volume. Nozzle tip 0.013"–0.015" is recommended to use with the pressure of 140–180 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
Air assisted airless application viscosity can be reached with approximately 0–2 % of thinning by volume. Nozzle tip 0.013"–0.015" is recommended to use with the pressure 40–140 bar. Atomising air pressure should be about 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
Conventional application viscosity can be reached with approximately 0–2 % thinning by volume. Nozzle tip 1.6 –2.0 mm is recommended to use with the pressure 2–3 bar.
Wood contains resin and other colouring extractives especially in knots. Temperature and humidity fluctuations may cause paint coat discolouration in these areas.
Fast drying in convectional air drying oven with temperature 30–50 °C. The colours of CP-base paint might need longer drying time than the colours of AP-base.
Drying and recoating times are related to the porosity of wood, colour shade, drying time, film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.

|Application conditions||The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. The moisture content of sawn timber has to be below 20 %.|
|Preparation||Surfaces must be free of dirt.|
|Priming||To be used without any separate primer.|
|Thinning||Paint is recommended to be used without thinning. If needed thin with water max. 5%.|
|Mixing of components||Stir the paint carefully before use. Avoid flotation. Thin with water if necessary.|
|Cleaning of tools||Water or Tikkurila Tool Cleaner.|
|EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value||According to VOC Directive 2004/42/EU the product subcategory A/d VOC limit (1.1.2010) is maximum 130 g/l. VOC content of the" Ultra Pro" is 20 ± 10 g/l.
