Ultra Pro 30 - Polyacrylate exterior topcoat

Ultra Pro
DESCRIPTION A water-borne one-component, polyacrylate exterior topcoat.
PRODUCT FEATURES

Suitable for fast production lines and drying in elevated temperature as well as in room temperature.

Contains alkyd for improved adhesion to bare wood. The paint can be used as a primer and a top coat.

Recommended uses Suitable for exterior wooden panels and cladding etc.

TECHNICAL DATA
Features Good stacking properties.
Protects the surface against moisture, sunlight and dirt.
Extremely low water absorption, decreases the moisture cracking of the wood.
Can be coated with Ultra Classic paint in building site, if needed.Tested according to the standard EN 927-5.
Forms a fast-drying and elastic film with low water permeability properties. 2x Ultra Pro 30 provides excellent protection against water penetration, and thus suppresses cracking of timber by preventing water uptake also through the edges.
Colour Range The shades on the Wooden Facades colour card for exterior use.
Colour Cards AVATINT tinting system.
Gloss groups Semi-matt
Coverage

8–10 m2/l when wet film thickness is about 120–160 g/m² and dry film thickness 40–50 µm.

4–5 m2/l for complete two layer system when dry film thickness is about 80–100 µm.
Thinner Water
Application method

Spraying, brushing machine or vacuum.

Drying times

Recoating time +23°C: 2–4 hours

Recoating time +50°C: 5–20 min

The paint can be dried in convectional air drying oven with temperature +40–60°C. The colours of VC-base paint might need longer drying time than the colours of VVA-base.

Drying and recoating times are related to the wet film thickness, color shade, temperature,  the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.

APPLICATION DETAILS
Application conditions The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. The moisture content of wood has to be below 20%. During application and drying temperature of the air, substrate and paint must be over +10°C and relative humidity of the air below 70%. Good ventilation is also very important.
Preparation Surfaces must be free of dirt, dust and mold.
Priming Ultra Pro 30 is recommended to be used both as a primer and a top coat.
Treatment Stir the paint carefully before use. Avoid flotation. Thin with water if necessary.
Thinning Paint is recommended to be used without thinning. If needed thin with water max. 5%.
Application For airless spraying the product is thinned approximately 0–5%. Recommended nozzle tip is 0.013"–0.015" and pressure 140–180 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.

For air-assisted airless spraying, the product is thinned approximately 0–5%. Recommended nozzle tip is 0.013"–0.015" and pressure 40–140 bar. Atomising air pressure should be about 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.

For conventional spraying, the product is thinned approximately 0–5%. Recommended nozzle tip is 1.6–2.0 mm and pressure 2–3 bar.

Wood contains resin and other colouring extractives especially in knots. Temperature and humidity fluctuations may cause paint coat discolouration in these areas.
Cleaning of tools Water or Tikkurila Tool Cleaner.
EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value According to VOC Directive 2004/42/EU the product subcategory A/d VOC limit (1.1.2010) is maximum 130 g/l. VOC content of "Ultra Pro 30" is 30±10 g/l.
