Temabond ST 200

A two-component high-solids, aluminium pigmented modified epoxy paint. As a surface-tolerant epoxy, Temabond ST 200 is the first choice especially for surfaces where the complete removal of rust by blast cleaning is impracticable (St2).

Surface-tolerant high-solids epoxy paint

An ideal solution for maintenance painting due to very good adhesion to blast cleaned or hand prepared steel. Mastic paint with high film-build properties, also by brush. Low solvent emission compare to traditional epoxy paints.

Good chemical and abrasion resistance

Due to the aluminium pigmentation forms a very tight coat with good chemical and abrasion resistance. Paint is used as a primer for steel surfaces difficult to clean in process and chemical industry. Also suitable for water immersion.

Functional mechanism of Temabond ST 200

Temabond ST 200 mastic paint has the ability to penetrate rust and adhere to the underlying steel surface, effectively preventing further corrosion.

 A barrier pigmented Temabond epoxy paint protects against moisture and oxygen, preventing their corrosive effect on steel.
Furthermore, a layer of interlaced flakes of e.g. micaceous iron oxide or aluminium multiplies the distance across which corrosive molecules must migrate in order to reach the steel surface.

DESCRIPTION A two-component high-solids, aluminium pigmented modified epoxy paint.
PRODUCT FEATURES Especially used as a primer for steel surfaces difficult to clean in process and chemical industry and in water immersion. Can also be applied on old alkyd paint surfaces. Can be used as a single coat paint. Recommended for repairing of damages caused by transport or installation.
Recommended uses Recommended for repainting and touch-up painting of bridges, cisterns and different types of steelwork and equipment in wood-processing and chemical industry, such as paper machines, conveyors, tubular bridges etc.

TECHNICAL DATA
Features Due to the aluminium pigmentation forms a very tight coat with good chemical and abrasion resistance. High film build properties, also by brush. Very good adhesion to blast cleaned or hand prepared steel. Low solvent content, lower solvent emissions than with traditional epoxy paints.
Colour Range Aluminium (Temaspeed tinting for reddish aluminium). The colour will change in outdoor use.

APPLICATION DETAILS
Application conditions All surfaces must be dry. The temperature of the ambient air, surface or paint should not fall below +10 ºC during application and drying. Relative humidity should not exceed 80 %. The surface temperature of the steel should remain at least 3 ºC above the dew point.
Preparation Oil, grease, salts and dirt are removed by appropriate means. (ISO 12944-4)

Steel surfaces: Remove rust by tool cleaning to minimum St2 or blast clean to Sa2 or Sa2½. Blast clean to grade Sa2½ for immersion. (ISO 8501-1)

Earlier painted surfaces: Roughen old paint surfaces using e.g. abrasive wheel, sand paper or blast cleaning.
Priming Temabond ST 200, Temazinc 77 and Temazinc 99.
Finishing Temacoat GPL, Temacoat GPL-S MIO, Temacoat GPL-S Primer, Temacoat GS 50, Temacoat RM 40, Temacoat HS 40, Temabond ST 300, Temadur, Temathane and Temacryl EA.
Painting By airless or conventional spray or by brush. Depending on the temperature of the components the paint can be thinned 0 - 10 %. Airless spray nozzle tip 0.013" - 0.019" and nozzle pressure 140 - 180 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object. At brush application the paint should be thinned according to the circumstancies.
Mixing of components First stir base and hardener separately. The correct proportions of base and hardener must be mixed thoroughly before use. Use mechanical mixer for mixing.
Cleaning of tools Thinner 006 1031.
EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 200 g/litre of paint mixture.
VOC content of paint mixture (thinned 10 % by volume) is 260 g/l.
