Old particle board emits formaldehyde throughout its life cycle. If the board is damp, the rate of release is even greater. If the board is really wet, it should always be replaced. We recommend that you apply one coat of Jehu primer to the board and finish with a waterborne paint such as Joker or Feelings Interior Paint, or Feelings Extra Durable for demanding conditions. The best protection is provided by alkyd paint such as Pesto.
