APPLICATION DETAILS | ||
Application conditions | The surface to be treated has to be clean, the temperature of the air at least +5 °C, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %. Do not paint in strong sunshine.
Preparation | New untreated surfaces:
The substrate has to be sufficiently dried and hardened before treatment. For example conditions and thickness of the plaster layer affect the drying and hardening time. Remove dirt, dust and salts from unpainted concrete surfaces. Wash mouldy, mossy etc. surfaces starting from the bottom upwards using Tikkurila Mould Removal according to instructions. Very porous concrete surfaces are recommended to be levelled with Finnseco Polytop Finishing Mortar or Finnseco Levelling Mortar. Previously painted concrete surfaces: Remove dirt, dust and salts. Wash mouldy, mossy etc. surfaces with Tikkurila Mould Removal according to instructions. Remove the peeling and loose paint layers. Choose the method according to the strength of the substrate and paint type to be removed (e.g. steel brushing, pressure washing with hot water or water-sand wash). Carry out the necessary concrete repair, patching and levelling using the Finnseco repair mortars as instructed. |
|
Priming | Use the primer when necessary. Chalking substrate is recommended to be primed with Tikkurila Hydrosol Primer. Water-repelling properties of the substrate can be improved with Tikkurila Silicone Primer. Follow instructions in the data sheet.
Surface treatment | Apply two coats of the product. The paint can be thinned up to 5 % with water for priming, if necessary. Finish with unthinned paint.
Stir Finngard 150 well before use. Reserve enough paint from the same batch for one uniform surface, to avoid possible colour differences. Should you need to use two different production batches, paint the joints with a solution of 1 part of old batch and 1 part of new batch. Make sure that this joint is in as inconspicuous point as possible. Uniform surfaces are painted without interruption. Follow the recommended coverage values to ensure maximum protective effect. Applicable national health and safety precautions must be followed in the pre-treatment and coating of substrates containing asbestos. Protect the surfaces not to be painted. Mechanic strain can cause lighter visible spots, in particular, in darker painted surfaces. This is a typical feature for all matt facade paints which does not, however, affect the product’s technical performance. |
|
Cleaning of tools | Clean tools with water. Tikkurila Tool Cleaner is recommended for removal of hardened paint.
Maintenance instructions | Clean the surface cautiously with pressure washing without detergent at the earliest 1 month after painting. The washing may leave a permanent mark, therefore the area should be delimited imperceptible according to the structure lines. Remove dry loose dirt lightly with a soft brush without scrubbing. Tikkurila Mould Removal can be used to remove algae and mould, rinse off well.
Note: The surface needs always to be recoated after mould wash. |
|
Maintenance treatment | Surfaces painted with Finngard 150 can be re-painted with Finngard 150, Finngard 500, Finngard Silicone Resin Paint, Finngard HybriSil, Finngard 1,5 H, Finngard 3,0 H and Finngard Silicone Resin Coating.
EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value | (cat A/c) 40g/l(2010), Finngard 150 contains VOC max. 40 g/l.
HEALTH AND SAFETY LABELLING according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 |
The product is not classified as dangerous. A Safety Data Sheet is available on request. Safety data sheet
