PRODUCT DATA SHEET
|DESCRIPTION||A water-borne, one-component fast-drying acrylic based paint, which contains active anti-corrosive pigments.|
|PRODUCT FEATURES||Used as a primer for interior and exterior steel surfaces. Overcoatable with a wide range of products, also with solvent-borne products. Not suitable for immersion or constant humidity.|
|Recommended uses||Steel surfaces.|
|Features||Drying times can be shortened by using higher temperatures. The product has MED (Marine Equipment Directive) certificate no VTT-C-117333-15-06 and is thus accepted for painting surfaces inside the ships. The product has also a U.S. Coast Guard Module B number (164.112 / EC0809) type approval.|
|Colour Cards||Temaspeed Fonte tinting.|
Practical coverage depends on the application method, painting conditions and the shape and roughness of the surface to be coated.
|Application method||By spray or brush.|
Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.
|Solids volume||43 ± 2 volume % (ISO 3233)
53 ± 2 weight %
|Density||1,2 ± 0,1 kg/l|
|Product code||213 series.|
|Application conditions||All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from contamination. The temperature of the ambient air, surface and paint should not fall below +15ºC during application and drying. Relative humidity of the air should be between 20–70%. The surface temperature of steel should remain at least 3°C above the dew point.|
|Preparation||Oil, grease, salts and dirt are removed by appropriate means. (ISO 12944-4)
Steel surfaces: Blast clean to grade Sa2½. (ISO 8501-1) If blast cleaning is not possible, phosphating is recommended for cold rolled steel to improve adhesion.
Zinc surfaces: Sweep blast clean with mineral abrasives, e.g. quartz sand, to an even roughness. (SaS, SFS 5873) If sweep blasting is not possible, the surface should be roughened by hand abrading or washed with Panssaripesu detergent. For hot dip galvanized surfaces see separate application instructions or contact Tikkurila ProService.
Aluminium surfaces: Sweep blast-clean with none-metallic abrasives to an even roughness. (SaS, SFS 5873) If sweep blasting is not possible, the surface should be roughened by hand abrading or washed with Maalipesu detergent.
|Priming||Fontecryl 10 and Temazinc EE.|
|Finishing||After 2 - 3 h: Fontecryl 25, Fontelac QD 80, Fontecoat EP 50, Fontecoat EP 80, Temalac FD 50, Temalac FD 80 and Temalac ML 90.
After 6 h: Temadur, Fontedur HB 80, Duasolid, Temathane and Temacryl.
|Painting||Stir the product carefully before use.
For airless spraying, the product is thinned approximately 0–10%. Recommended nozzle tip is 0,011"–0,015" and pressure 100–160 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
For brush application the product should be thinned according to the circumstancies.
|Cleaning of tools||Clean the spraying equipment immediately after use as follows:
1. Run the equipment with water to remove excess paint from the equipment.
2. Run the equipment with a mixture of approx 20% Thinner 1109 in clean water, at least two times.
3. Finally wash with undiluted Thinner 1109.
Wash the equipment with water before starting to paint again. Unwashed equipment can cause serious surface defects.
Contact Tikkurila Technical Service for detailed instructions for cleaning 2-component application equipment.
|EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value||The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 95 g/litre of paint.
VOC content of paint (thinned 10% by volume) is 85 g/l.
