Valtti Plus Base - Wood Preservative

Ready-to-use, waterborne, slightly bluish exterior wood preservative for consumer and professional use. Penetrates into the substrate and retards moisture absorption as well as mold growth and spread of rot and blue stain. This PT8 wood preservative product has been approved under the rules of the Biocide Directive No. 528/2012 /EC. Safety and Chemical Agency Registration number FI-2016-0006.

Ready-to-use, waterborne, colorless exterior wood preservative for consumer and professional use.

Recommended uses
All wooden structures to be treated with wood stains or paints (except surfaces to be treated with wood oils and barn-red paints) and exterior woodwork. Can be used on wood components above grounds. Not for use on wood in direct soil contact or in marine environment. For protection and priming of timber and wooden structures before surface treatment. Suitable for logs, sawn and planed timber, thermally treated and impregnated wood in exterior use. Not to be used in interior surfaces. Not to be used on wood in direct contact with foodstuffs or animal nutrition. Use the product only as wood preservative as described in product data sheet and label. Finishing coat is recommended to be applied as soon as possible, because the wood preservative alone does not protect the wood surface from the adverse effects of sunlight.

Application method

Brush or spray.

Apply thin coats and quantity that is easily absorbed into the wood. The priming oil dries quickly. Proceed quickly by brush and don’t work too long on one point.

Drying time at 23°C and 50% relative air humidity
Touch-dry after approx. 1/2 hour. Finishing coat can be applied after 24 hours.

Protect from frost. Store the product only in original package, tightly closed in a safe place and out of reach of children. Poorly closed or short canisters do not endure long storing. Not to be stored together with foodstuffs or animal nutrition. Shelf life in normal conditions is at least 18 months.

Application conditions
The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature of the air at least +5°C during treatment and drying, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %.
Do not use the product in the rain or if rain is expected in the next 24 hours.
Remove dirt, mold and any loose material. Wash down surfaces affected by dirt and mold with Tikkurila Mould Removal (Homeenpoisto) or Tehopesu (Power Wash) solution according to directions of use.
Protect other surfaces and plants from splashes of primer. Cover all water containers prior to treatment.
To be used unthinned.
Treat wood surfaces with Valtti Plus Base in as early construction phase as possible. Apply by brush or spray. Stir before use. Handle the product in a well-ventilated place.
Treat end-grain with special care.
Apply the finishing coat as soon as possible, however after 24 hours at the earliest. If the surface treatment is anyhow delayed, prime the surfaces again. Treated wood exposed to weathering has to be treated according to recommendations of use delivered with the product in question. The finished surface has to be kept in good condition. Do not use products containing triazole fungicides for the finishing treatment.
In exterior use protect the ground and plants from splashes. Do not apply in such place (e.g. bridge above water), where there is a risk that the product would end up in the water.
During treatment and drying do not get the product with soil and surface waters. Freshly treated timber has to be stored under shelter or on impermeable hard surface. Possible paint drips have to be recovered for re-use or proper disposal.
Unprotected persons and animals should be kept out of treated areas for 48 hours or until surfaces are dry. Do not use the product in the vicinity of food utensils, cutlery and surfaces where food in handled.
Wear suitable protective clothing when handling the product or wood treated with the product. Avoid excessive contamination of protective clothing with the product used.
Use wood preservatives safely. Always read the label and product information before use.
Cleaning of tools
Clean the tools with soap and water or Tikkurila Pensselipesu (Tool Cleaner).

Contains: 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate (0,3 % w/w) ja propiconazole (0,9 % w/w). Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Avoid release to the environment. Do not breathe mist/spray. Keep out of reach of children. Dispose of contents according to the local regulations for hazardous waste and recycle or dispose container in accordance with local regulations. Contains 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate and propiconazole. May produce an allergic reaction. Wear protective gloves. 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate is a carbamate compound which has weak anticholinesterase activity. DO NOT USE if under medical advice not to work with anticholinesterase compounds. A safety data sheet is available on request. FIRST AID INSTRUCTION: After skin contact: Take off all contaminated clothing and wash skin with plenty of water and soap. Seek medical attention if symptoms occur. After eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical attention if symptoms occur. If swallowed: Do not induce vomiting unless expressly instructed by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs. Seek medical attention. If inhaled: Move the affected person into fresh air. Keep person warm and rest. Provide artificial respiration by a trained person if breathing is irregular or arrested. Seek medical attention if symptoms are severe or long lasting. If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical attention immediately.
Safety data sheet

Avoid spillage into drains, water systems and soil. Destroy liquid and dried waste according to the local regulations for hazardous waste. Recycle empty, dry cans or dispose them of in accordance with local regulations.
