Merit 30 - Durable high-quality lacquer
Merit 30A two-component acid-catalyzed lacquer for interior surfaces.
Superior filling properties
Merit 30 is a semi-matt acid-catalyzed lacquer with high solid content. The lacquer has excellent filling properties and finished surfaces look brilliant. Merit 30 is suitable for manual and automatic spraying, and curtain-coating application.
Merit 30 has MED (Marine Equipment Directive) certificate no VTT-C-11165-15-14 or can be used in the ship, because of low flame-spread characteristics and not producing excessive quantities of smoke and toxic products.
Merit 30 is widely used for:

VTT-C-11165-15-14 and is thus accepted for painting surfaces inside the ships.
|Building material emission class||MED|
|Emission classification||The emission level of this product fulfils the requirements of E1 classification for surface treatment materials. The product has been tested according to the standard EN 717-1, and its formaldehyde emission rate is less than 0.124 mg/m3 air.|
|Thinner||1033 and 1027|
|Mixing ratio||Lacquer 100 parts by volume 005 2703
Hardener 10 parts by volume 006 2098
For airless spraying, the product is thinned approximately 5–20% to the viscosity 20–45s (DIN4). Recommended nozzle tip is 0.011"–0.015" and pressure 100–160 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
For air–assisted airless spraying, the product is thinned approximately 5–20% to the viscosity 20–45s (DIN4). Recommended nozzle tip is 0.011"–0.015" and pressure 40–140 bar. Atomising air pressure should be about 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
For conventional spraying, the product is thinned approximately 5–20% to the viscosity 20–45s (DIN4). Recommended nozzle tip is 1.4–1.8 mm and pressure 2–3 bar.
Stacking temperature below +35 ºC.
Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.
|Solids volume||Volume solids 49±2 %
Weight solids 56±2 %
|Product code||005 2703|
|MED Certificate||VTT C 11165 15 14 Merit 30|
|Application conditions||The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. During application and drying the temperature of the air, the surface to be treated and the lacquer has to be over 18 ºC and the relative humidity of the air below 70 %.|
|Preparation||Wood surfaces should be sanded with sanding paper P150–240. Primer surfaces should be sanded with sanding paper P240–400. All sanding dust must be removed before lacquering.|
|Priming||Merit Sanding, Merit 20, Merit 30 and Merit 80.|
|Surface treatment||Wood surfaces should be sanded with sanding paper P150–240. Primer surfaces should be sanded with sanding paper P240–400. All sanding dust must be removed before lacquering.|
|Mixing of components||Stir the lacquer carefully before use. Add 10 volume % of Hardener 006 2098. Thin the lacquer to the viscosity required. In case the lacquer mixture is used on the next day, add at least an equal amount of fresh mixture.
Do not use iron containers as mixing container. Instead use plastic, enamel or acid resistant steel containers.
|Cleaning of tools||Thinner 1033 or 1027.|
|EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value||The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 460 g/litre of paint.
VOC content of the paint mixture (thinned 20 % by volume) is 520 g/l.
