Fast-drying wood stain for exterior panels

Pinja Color is a fast-drying water-borne wood stain, that protects the surface against moisture, sunlight, dirt and thus decreasing cracking of wood surface.

Tintable with Avatint

Pinja Color can be applied by various application methods like dipping, flow coating, spraying, vacuum coating and brushing. A stain is tintable with Avatint tinting system.

DESCRIPTION A water-borne, tintable semi-transparent wood stain.

Protects the surface against moisture, sunlight and dirt.

Decreases cracking of wood surface.

The wood stain does not contain free formaldehyde and after drying it does not emit formaldehyde to the environment.

Recommended uses Suitable for wooden surfaces such as window frames, exterior doors, walls, log cabins etc.

Colour Cards Valtti Color colour card.
Tinting system: AVATINT.

Application method

Airless spraying, air-assisted airless spraying, conventional spraying and vacuum.


For airless spraying, recommended nozzle tip is 0.009"–0.011" and pressure 80–160 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.


For air-assisted airless spraying, recommended nozzle tip is 0.009"–0.011"  and  pressure 40–120 bar. Atomising air pressure should be about 1–3  bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.


For conventional spraying, recommended nozzle tip 1.0–1.4 mm and  pressure 1.5–3.0 bar.

Drying time is dependent on the temperature and moisture content of the air.

Application conditions The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. The moisture content of the wood should be below 19%. During application and drying the temperature of the air, the surface to be treated and the stain has to be over +5ºC and the relative humidity of the air below 80%.
Preparation Untreated surfaces:
Clean surface from dirt, dust and loose material.
Priming Recommended primers:
Pinjasol, Valtti Base or Pinja Oil.
Staining Stir Pinjacolor carefully before use. The product is ready for use.
Cleaning of tools Water.
EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 30 g/litre of stain.Only for professional use.
