BioRid Spray - Water-borne functional coating
BioRid Spray is a waterborne functional coating containing micropores,
which eliminate moisture and keep the surface dry. BioRid Spray is
especially suitable for new and previously painted surfaces in conditions
where protection of the paint film from mold contamination is required.
BioRid Spray is suitable for interior coating of walls and ceilings, on substrates of concrete, plaster, bricks, and metal. Application on steel surfaces requires an anti-corrosion primer, to avoid discoloration or yellowing from rusty surfaces.
BioRid Spray is suitable for new and previously painted surfaces, such as
in living facilities, cellars, parking garages, food industries, warehouses,
and animal husbandry operations.
BioRid Spray is not suitable for unpainted wooden surfaces.
Read the application instructions carefully before starting the painting work.
Depending on the surfaces. For effective protection the coverage should be about 1.0-1.6 m²/l (or 750-1200g/ m²).
BioRid Spray is most suitable for airless spray application. For airless spray application, use a nozzle size of 0.027"-0.029". BioRid Spray can also be applied with brush and roller.
Drying time at 23°C and 50% relative air humidity
Dry to touch after 8-12 hours, depending on film thickness.
Resistant to cleaning detergents.
Approx. 1.2 kg/l (ISO 2811)
Shelf-life: 2 years. Protect from frost. Store in a dry and cool place,
protected from sunlight. Close the can carefully for future use. Open can
does not withstand long term storage.
The surface to be coated must be dry, the temperature of the air and
surface at least +5 °C, and the relative humidity of the air below 80 %.
Remove dirt and dust from the unpainted surfaces. Fill the surfaces with suitable Presto or Prestonit filler, if needed. Prime porous and absorbing surfaces with ProSeal before applying BioRid Spray.
Unpainted molded surfaces:
Apply BioWash, diluted with water (mixing ratio 1:2), on mold affected
surfaces with a sponge, smooth brush or spray. Let the solution act for
about 20 minutes. When the surface is still wet, use a brush or high pressure
washer (200 bars) to remove mould. Rinse the surfaces carefully with clean water, from the top to the bottom. Fill cracks and holes with a suitable Presto or Prestonit filler. Apply BioRid Spray on the treated surface within 24 hours. For porous and absorbing surfaces,
prime with ProSeal.
Previously painted molded surfaces:
Wash previously painted surfaces with BioWash, see instructions above. Remove loose, flaking paint with a scraper and sand hard, glossy and industrially painted surfaces matt. Fill cracks and holes with a suitable Presto or Prestonit filler.
For both unpainted and previously painted molded surfaces, apply BioWash diluted with water (mixing ratio 1:50) over the whole surface for sterilization of the surface. Let the surface dry. Apply BioRid on the treated surface within 24 hours. For porous and absorbing surfaces, prime with ProSeal.
Stir BioRid Spray well before use. The product is ready to use but can
be thinned with water, when needed. Apply 1-2 times by spray to desired thickness. Edges can be coated by brush.
Note! Surfaces coated with BioRid Spray should not be recoated with other paints or coatings, because that would result in the loss of the desired properties.
Cleaning of tools
Remove excess coating from tools, and clean them with water. Tikkurila Tool Cleaner is recommended for removing hardened coating from tools.
Avoid high-pressure cleaning.
Surfaces coated with BioRid Spray should be recoated with the same product if needed, to retain its properties.
