PRODUCT DATA SHEET
Merit 80 - Acid-catalyzed lacquer
|DESCRIPTION||A two-component acid-catalyzed lacquer.|
An all-round lacquer with good filling properties.
|Recommended uses||Recommended for furniture, doors and other similar wooden surfaces.|
|Emission classification||Emission levels of this product fulfils the E1 classification. Paint has been tested according to the standard EN 717-1, and formaldehyde emission is less than 0.124 mg/m3 air.|
|Thinner||1033 and 1027|
|Mixing ratio||Lacquer 100 parts by volume 005 2701
Hardener 10 parts by volume 006 2098
Air assisted airless and conventional spraying.
Air assisted airless application with the viscosity 18–25 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 15–30 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 0.009"–0.013" and the nozzle pressure 60-160 bar. Atomising air pressure is recommended to be used with pressure 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
Conventional application with the viscosity 20-30 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 10–20 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 1.4–1.8 mm is recommended to be used with pressure 2-3 bar.
Stacking temperature below +35 ºC.
Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.
|Solids volume||Volume solids 49±2 %
Weight solids 56±2 %
|Product code||005 2701|
|Application conditions||The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. During application and drying the temperature of the air, the surface to be treated and the lacquer has to be over +18 ºC and the relative humidity of the air below 70 %.|
|Preparation||Wood surfaces should be sanded with sandpaper P150–240. Primer surfaces should be sanded with sandpaper P240–600. All sanding dust must be removed with f.ex.vacuum.|
|Priming||Recommended primers: Merit Sanding, Merit 20, Merit 30, Merit 80, Merit Sealer.|
|Mixing of components||Stir the lacquer carefully before use. Add 10 volume % of Hardener 006 2098. Thin the lacquer to the viscosity required. Do not use iron containers as mixing container. Instead use plastic, enamel or acid resistant steel containers.|
|Cleaning of tools||Thinner 1033 or 1027.|
|EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value||The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 460 g/litre of paint.
VOC content of the paint mixture (thinned 30 % by volume) is 540 g/l.
