PRODUCT DATA SHEET
Merit Zircon Extra 25 - Acid-catalysed lacquer
|DESCRIPTION||A one-component acid-catalysed lacquer.|
A fast curing all-round lacquer without armotic solvents.
Easy to sand.
|Recommended uses||Suitable for priming and top lacquering of furniture, doors and other wooden surfaces in general.|
|Emission classification||The emission level of this product fulfils the requirements of E1 classification for surface treatment materials. The product has been tested according to the standard EN 717-1, and its formaldehyde emission rate is less than 0.124 mg/m3 air.|
Practical coverage depends on the application method, painting conditions and the shape and roughness of the surface to be coated.
Airless spraying, air assisted airless spraying, conventional spraying and curtain coating.
Application (+23 °C)
Airless spraying application with the viscosity 25–50 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 5–20 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 0.011"–0.015" and the nozzle pressure 120–160 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
Air assisted airless spraying application with the viscosity 25–50 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 5–20 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 0.011"–0.015" and the nozzle pressure 40–120 bar. Atomising air pressure is recommended to be used with pressure 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
Conventional spraying application with the viscosity 25–60 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 0–20 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 1.4–1.8 mm is recommended to be used with pressure 2–3 bar.
Curtain coating with viscosity 35-50 s (DIN4) can be reached with approximately 5–15% thinning by volume. Avoid too high pumping pressure and flowing speed.
Stacking temperature below 35ºC.
Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.
|Special feature||Thinner: Thinner 1035, 1058,1033 or 1059.
|Solids volume||Volume solids 27±2 %
Weight solids 34±2 %
|Product code||005 2717|
|Application conditions||The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. During application and drying the temperature of the air, the surface to be treated and the lacquer has to be over 18ºC and the relative humidity of the air below 70%.
|Preparation||Wood surfaces should be sanded with sandpaper P150–240. Primer surfaces should be sanded with sandpaper P240–600. All sanding dust must be removed before lacquering.|
|Priming||Merit Sealer, Merit Sanding and Merit Zircon Extra 25.|
|Mixing of components||tir the lacquer carefully before use. Thin the lacquer to the viscosity required with Thinner 1035 or 1058.
In case the lacquer mixture is used on the next day, add at least an equal amount of fresh lacquer mixture.
Do not use iron containers as mixing container. Instead use plastic, enamel or acid resistant steel containers.
|Cleaning of tools||Thinner 1035, 1058,1033 or 1059.|
|EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value||he Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 620 g/litre of paint.
Maximum VOC content in ready to use paint (thinned 20 % by volume) is 650 g/l.
