PRODUCT DATA SHEET
Merit Topas 25 - Acid-catalysed lacquer
|DESCRIPTION||A two-component acid-catalyzed lacquer.|
A fast drying lacquer with good filling properties for indoor use.
|Recommended uses||Recommended for furniture, doors and other wooden surfaces.|
|Features||Contains no aromatic solvents.|
|Emission classification||The emission level of this product fulfils the requirements of E1 classification for surface treatment materials. The product has been tested according to the standard EN 717-1, and its formaldehyde emission rate is less than 0.124 mg/m3 air.|
Practical coverage depends on the application method, painting conditions and the shape and roughness of the surface to be coated.
|Thinner||1035 and 1058|
|Mixing ratio||Lacquer 100 parts by volume 005 2793
Hardener 10 parts by volume 006 2098
Airless, air assisted airless and conventional spraying.
Airless application with the viscosity 20 –30 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 5–20 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 0.009" to 0.013" and the nozzle pressure 100–160 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
Air assisted airless application with the viscosity 20–30 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 5–20 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 0.009"–0.013" and the nozzle pressure 40–120 bar. Atomising air pressure is recommended to be used with pressure 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
Conventional application with the viscosity 20–30 s (DIN 4) can be reached with approximately 5–20 % of thinning. Nozzle tip 1.0–1.8 mm is recommended to be used with pressure 2–3 bar.
|Pot-life (+23°C)||3 days.|
Stacking temperature below 35 ºC.
Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.
|Solids volume||36±2% volyme
|Product code||005 2793|
|Application conditions||The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. During application and drying the temperature of the air, the surface to be treated and the lacquer has to be over 18 ºC and the relative humidity of the air below 70 %.|
|Preparation||Wood surfaces should be sanded with sandpaper P150–240. Primer surfaces should be sanded with sandpaper P240–600. All sanding dust must be removed before lacquering.|
|Priming||Merit Sanding and Merit Topas 25.|
|Mixing of components||Stir the lacquer carefully before use. Add 10 volume % of Hardener 006 2098. Thin the lacquer to the viscosity required with Thinner 1035 or 1058. Thinning is not need in curtain coating.
Do not use iron containers as mixing container. Instead use plastic, enamel or acid resistant steel containers.
In case the lacquer mixture is used on the next day, add at least an equal amount of fresh lacquer mixture.
|Cleaning of tools||Thinner 1035 or 1058.|
|EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value||The Volatile Organic Compounds amount is 550 g/litre of paint.
Maximum VOC content in ready to use paint (thinned 20 % by volume) is 590 g/l.
