DESCRIPTION A high-solids, flexible and weather resistant two-component polyurethane coating.
PRODUCT FEATURES

Intended to be used as a UV-resistant topcoat on Temafloor PU floors in parking decks and other areas exposed to direct sunlight.


Recommended uses Concrete floors.

TECHNICAL DATA
Features Excellent resistance to UV.
Silent. It does not shrink or crack.
Withstands mechanical and chemical stress.
Self-levelling, to be applied with serrated or steel trowel.
Colour Range TVT 0229. For request RAL 3001, RAL 3020, RAL 7032, RAL 7040 and RAL 7045. The shade and gloss of the coating may change during time.

Coverage

Practical coverage depends on the porosity and evenness of the substrate and on the application method.

APPLICATION DETAILS
Application conditions The relative humidity of the concrete should not exceed 97%. The temperature of the ambient air, surface or coating should not fall below +15ºC during application or drying. Relative humidity of air should not exceed 70%.
Preparation New concrete: Remove laitance by power grinding, vacuum grit blasting or hydrochloric acid etching. Choose the method best suited for the premises. After grinding remove dust carefully with a vacuum cleaner. Hydrochloric acid etching is carried out with diluted hydrochloric acid (1 part concentrated hydrochloric acid, 4 parts water). Rinse with plenty of water. Dry the floor.

Old concrete: Remove all grease, oil, chemicals and other impurities by Maalipesu detergent. Remove old peeling paint layer by grinding, milling or vacuum grit blasting. Choose the method best suited for the premises. Clean out pot-holes removing all loose friable material. Open cracks with e.g. an abrasive tool. Remove loose material and dust.

Earlier painted surfaces: Grind the surface. Remove dust and loose particles from the floor. Remove all grease, oil and other impurities by detergent washing.
Patching Patch pot-holes and cracks with unthinned Temafloor 400 epoxy varnish and dry, clean sand. Mixing ratio e.g. 1 part by volume of epoxy mixture and 1–2 parts by volume of sand of grain size Ø 0.1–0.6 mm. Grind or sand the patched areas before overcoating.
Diluting Do not thin Temafloor PU-UV polyurethane coating.
Priming Prime using Temafloor 400 or Temafloor 200 epoxy varnish thinned 30–50% with Thinner 1029 or Fontefloor EP Primer thinned about 40% with water. Pour the primer onto the floor and apply as much as is needed to impregnate the concrete surface. If necessary, repeat priming to get a non-porous surface. Subsequent treatment can be carried out after 2 hours using "wet-on-wet" technique. A porous priming coat will result in holes and air bubbles in the finished screed. Scatter sand of grain size Ø 0,1–0,6 mm on the fresh primer coat to ensure the screed adhesion. Remove loose sand with vacuum cleaner before coating with Temafloor PU-UV.
Asphalt floors should be primed by applying unthinned Temafloor PU with a suitable steel or rubber trowel.
Coating Overcoating may be carried out not earlier than 24 hrs after coating with Temafloor PU. If the primed surface is not overcoated within 24 hrs, it should be abraded. Pour the coating mixture onto the floor and spread it with a serrated steel trowel or an adjustable trowel.
Control that the thickness of layer is correct by observing coating consumption and by measuring the film thickness. Recommended thickness of a layer is 0.3–1.0 mm. Level the screed with a spiked roller approx. 10–20 min after application. Spiked roller helps removing air bubbles from the coating.

Note! Add the remaining mixture to the next batch of the screed, do not scrape it out of the container onto the floor.
Mixing of components First stir base and hardener separately. Mix the correct proportions of base and hardener thoroughly (approx. 2 minutes to get homogenous mixture) by using a low speed industrial hand drill with a paddle. Insufficient mixing or incorrect mixing ratio will result in uneven drying of the surface, weaken the properties of the coating and risk the success of the application.
