Ultra Pro - Polyacrylate exterior topcoat

Ultra Pro
DESCRIPTION Water-borne one-component, polyacrylate exterior topcoat with optimized hiding properties.
PRODUCT FEATURES Contains alkyd for improved adhesion to bare wood. The paint can be used as a primer and a topcoat.

Ultra Pro belongs to the Tikkurila ProHouse consept

2 x Ultra Pro provides excellent protection against water penetration, and thus suppresses cracking of timber by preventing water uptake also through the edges. Must be coated with Ultra Matt paint in building site.

Ultra Pro is listed in the database for building products that can be used in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled buildings.

Recommended uses Suitable for exterior wooden panels and claddings etc.

Application method

Spraying, brushing machine or vacuum.

Airless spraying application viscosity can be reached with approximately 0–2 % of thinning by volume. Nozzle tip 0.013"–0.015" is recommended to use with the pressure of 140–180 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.

Air assisted airless application viscosity can be reached with approximately 0–2 % of thinning by volume. Nozzle tip 0.013"–0.015" is recommended to use with the pressure 40–140 bar. Atomising air pressure should be about 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.

Conventional application viscosity can be reached with approximately 0–2 % thinning by volume. Nozzle tip 1.6 –2.0 mm is recommended to use with the pressure 2–3 bar.

Wood contains resin and other colouring extractives especially in knots. Temperature and humidity fluctuations may cause paint coat discolouration in these areas.

Drying times

115–150 g/m²

+50ºC

Recoatable, after

5–10 min

The paint must be dried in convectional air drying oven with temperature +40–60°C.

The colours of CP-base paint might need longer drying time than the colours of AP-base.

Drying and recoating times are related to the porosity of wood, colour shade, drying time, film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation.
Solids volume AP-base paint: 39 volume-%,
CP-base paint: 40 volume-%
AP-base paint: 48 weight-%
CP-base paint: 47 weight-%
Density AP-base: 1.20 kg/l, CP-base: 1.14 kg/l
Product code 709 6201, AP-base paint, 709 6203, CP-base paint

APPLICATION DETAILS
Application conditions The surface to be treated has to be clean and dry. The moisture content of wood has to be below 20%. During application and drying temperature of the air, substrate and paint must be over +10°C and relative humidity of the air below 70%. Good ventilation is also very important.
Preparation Clean surfaces from dirt, dust and loose material. Assure that surface is free from mold and blue stain.
Priming To be used without any separate primer.
Thinning Paint is recommended to be used without thinning. If needed thin with water max. 5%.
Application Stir the product carefully before use. Avoid making foam.
For airless spraying the product is thinned approximately 0–2%. Recommended nozzle tip is 0.013"–0.015" and pressure 140–180 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
For air-assisted airless spraying, the product is thinned approximately 0–2%. Recommended nozzle tip is 0.013"–0.015" and pressure 40–140 bar. Atomising air pressure should be about 1–3 bar. Spray angle shall be chosen according to the shape of the object.
For conventional spraying, the product is thinned approximately 0–2%. Recommended nozzle tip is 1.6 –2.0 mm and pressure 2–3 bar.
Wood contains resin and other colouring extractives especially in knots. Temperature and humidity fluctuations may cause paint coat discolouration in these areas.
Overcoating Must be coated with Ultra Matt paint in building site.
Cleaning of tools Water or Tikkurila Tool Cleaner.
EU VOC 2004/42/EC-limit value According to VOC Directive 2004/42/EU the product subcategory A/d VOC limit (1.1.2010) is maximum 130 g/l. VOC content of the" Ultra Pro" is 20±10 g/l.

For industrial and professional use only.
