Temafloor 4000 ESD - Electrically conductive grinding screed

DESCRIPTION Solvent-free Temafloor 4000 ESD grinding screed is prepared by adding conductive sand mixture to Temafloor 401 epoxy varnish mixture.

Forms electrically electrostatic dissipative coating when used with Temafloor 310 ESD primer. Meets the requirements for electrostatic dissipative floor coatings according to EN 61340-5-1. Good impact and good chemical resistance.

Recommended uses Prevents electrostatic discharge damages and recommended in places where electric discharge is not desirable e.g. in electronic industry, production and storing of explosive materials, place with higher risks of ignition.

Features Withstands heavy wear. Resistance to chemicals is given case by case. Withstands +110ºC dry heat and +60ºC in immersion.
Colour Range The colour of the screed is determined by the sand used.

Pot-life (+23°C) 20-30 minutes on substrate, 10-15 minutes in the mixing container.

Fully cured after 7 days


At lower temperature the curing process will last longer.
Solids volume approx. 100%.
Density 1.8-2.0kg / l (mixture), depending on the grain size and the amount of sand. Recommended grain size 0.5-1.2mm.

Application conditions The relative humidity of the concrete should not exceed 97%. The temperature of the ambient air, surface or coating should not fall below +15ºC during either application or drying. Relative humidity of air should not exceed 80%.
Preparation New concrete
Remove laitance by power grinding, vacuum grit blasting or hydrochloric acid etching. Choose the method best suited for the premises. After grinding remove dust carefully with a vacuum cleaner. Hydrochloric acid etching is carried out with diluted hydrochloric acid (1 part concentrated hydrochloric acid, 4 parts water). Rinse with plenty of water. Dry the floor.

Old concrete
Remove all grease, oil, chemicals and other impurities by MAALIPESU detergent. Remove old peeling paint layer by grinding, milling or vacuum grit blasting. Choose the method best suited for the premises. Clean out pot-holes removing all loose friable material. Open cracks with e.g. an abrasive tool. Remove loose material and dust.
Priming Prime using Temafloor 310 ESD primer thinned 20-30% with Thinner 1029 according to the product data sheet. Scatter conductive sand on the fresh primer coat to ensure the screed adhesion and prevent gliding of the screed.
Diluting Do not thin Temafloor 4000 ESD grinding screed.
Screeding Pour the screed mixture onto the floor. If a thin layer is required, apply by an adjustable trowel to the desired screed thickness. Thick layers are applied by a screed box or by a straight-edge and suitable laths to gauge the required thickness. Knead the screeded surface by hands or use a suitable lightweight floating machine.
Overcoating Overcoating can be carried out after 16-24 hours using Temafloor 401 epoxy varnish thinned 20-30% with Thinner 1029. Pour the varnish mixture onto the floor, spread with a rubber trowel and level with a roller.

EN 61340-5-1: When the system is applied according to this product datasheet, the Temafloor 4000 ESD system fulfils the requirements of standard EN 61340-5-1, having a resistance to ground Rg <109 Ω (<108 Ω for newly installed floor) and Rg>50 kΩ. Measured resistance values may vary but are typically 1 MΩ < Rg < 50 MΩ.
Mixing of components Mix the correct proportions of base and hardener thoroughly (approx. 2 minutes) by using a hand drill with a paddle, concrete mixer or power mixer. Add conductive sand mixture to the varnish mixture by mixing carefully at the same time. Insufficient mixing or incorrect mixing ratio will result in uneven drying of the surface, weaken the properties of the screed and risk the success of the application.
